We are in need of lectors and coffee hour hosts/bakers for September and October. Sign-ups are available on the coffee hour table. We could also use a few more people to help with greeting/ushering and receiving offering during our worship services. This is a wonderful way to volunteer your time here at CHULC. CHULC Harvest Festival!!!
Will be held on Saturday, September 22 - 12 - 3 pm, rain or shine! We will be serving homemade soups, breads and pies. There will be crafts and fun tattoos for the kids. And of course, our world famous CHRIST HAMILTON CAKE WALK at 2pm, hosted by our very own Dan Courtright! The CHULC Organ Fundraising team will also have their Tricky Tray Raffle!
Volunteers are needed for the following areas for the Harvest Festival - Cakes for Cakewalk, pies, homemade soup and homemade bread and also donations of hay bales, mums and corn stalks. Help is also needed during the day of the festival with setup, take down and kitchen help. Sign up sheets for the above are in the covenant house or please email Sue Butz at firstname.lastname@example.org.
In eight short months the merging of the current CHULC organ with the new organ we purchased in March of 2016 will begin!
To get the fundraising ball rolling we plan to do a Tricky Tray at the Harvest Festival on September 22nd. We are asking each of our CHULC committees to donate a basket with a different theme, i.e. a movie theme with gift cards to the movies along with popcorn and candy, a coffee and cookie basket, a baking basket etc. Guests at the Harvest Festival will be able to purchase raffle tickets (proceeds will go directly to the organ fund) on the baskets they are interested in and then there will be a drawing for each basket during the festival!
We think this would be a good first step in getting our congregation involved in the fundraising process. We would love to have more people join our fundraising committee, with new ideas about how we can reach our goal. We hope you will give it some prayerful consideration. Look for more information about the organ fundraising campaign in future newsletters and the CHULC bulletin.
In efforts to keep the service running smoothly and to save a bit of time we will now be keeping a calendar of temple talks. If you would like to give a temple talk please let the office know the Wednesday before. If you have a future date that you would like to reserve you can let the office know that as well and we will put you on the calendar. We will be scheduling only 1 temple talk per service, unless there is an urgent need to pass on information from council or the call committee. The call committee will be updating us on the 4th Sunday of month.
We are pleased to inform you that we have implemented a new process and plan for working with the Christ Hamilton Facilities. Dan Courtright, our Facilities and Maintenance Director is the key contact for any facilities related concern. Dan will work with our sextons, the Property Committee or our volunteers to make arrangements to fix the issue. Donations needed for the Pregnancy Resource Center are: Diapers sizes Newborn, 4’s and 5’s, unscented wipes, baby clothing NB through size 2T, any season, new or gently used; baby bath and shampoo, and lotion, bassinets, high chairs, or strollers, particularly umbrella strollers. Please place items in the container in the Covenant House.
Prizes for bingo games at Glucolodge are also needed. The most requested prizes are jewelry: clip-on earrings, long necklaces (over the head) and bracelets. Word Search and Crossword books, pens, socks, and small containers of snacks. Please deposit these items in the container marked Bingo Prizes in the Covenant House.
During the cold winter months nothing tastes better than a hot bowl of soup! Please help us help families in our community by donating family size cans of soup to the PVEN food pantry.
Peeeaaanuuut, Peanut Butter
PVEN is always in need of peanut butter to give to families in need in our community. Peanut butter is a great source of protein and is liked by most kids! We distribute food the first- fourth Tuesdays and the second Saturday of each month. Please help keep our shelves full so we can help others fill their cupboards
The PVEN Clothing Closet is in need of Boys size 5, 16, 18-20 long sleeve shirts, pants and pajamas., brand new (in the package) underwear in all sizes, men's and women's deodorant, shaving cream and razors.
Donations can be brought to the Church and a PVEN Board Member will make sure the items get to the Pantry.

The Community Service and Missions Committee is in need of the following items for bingo prizes. Members of the committee assist residents with bingo games every other month. Items needed are: jewelry (clip on earrings, necklaces long enough to go over the head, bracelets), perfumed cream, tooth paste and tooth brushes, calendars, word search and crosswords, pens, small containers of nuts (almonds) and other snacks such as Pringles. The Property Committee is looking for people who would be interested in being trained to use the sound systems in the church and the LH. We would like several people who would be capable of working the systems for events and services here at the church.
