“Who do you say that I am?” Jesus asked people in His own day. (Matthew 16:15) It is the question each of us is confronted with when we encounter Jesus through reading the Bible. Perhaps it is good to start with what Jesus said about himself.
So, who did Jesus say he was?
“ All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.” – Matthew 11:27
“You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world.” – John 8:23
Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.” – John 8:58
“I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live.” – John 11:25
“I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” – John 14:6
